Bang Bang Wings – Sheet Pan or Air Fryer

Bang Bang WingsMost Asian restaurants have a variation that entails a spicy creamy sweet and satisfying sauce. Using over batter coated shrimp. Usually called Bang Bang Shrimp. It is all about the sauce. So keeping that in mind, I have created Bang Bang Wings. Wherever did this name come from? Who knows, it is right out there with Bombay Potatoes or anything else that is fun and symbolic.

I mean if you say Bang Bang enough times, you will convince yourself it is quite real and authentic. Since it is all about the sauce, I have air fried wings until they are ridiculously crispy. One they are ridiculously crispy, I toss them with this homemade bang bang sauce.

My Bang Bang Wings Story

This week has been a rather long week for me. Actually, at the pace 2020 is moving, think blink of an eye fast, I need to up my game even more to get simpler on the table. Simple, moreish, meals that fit into all times of the day. In that spirit I cobbled up this recipe for these wings. These actually taste great served them with the perky potato salad from the Spices and Seasons cookbook.  I have been known know to have this over rice.

I know, I know, I can eat practically anything over rice.

The good news with these wings is that they do not need any additional sauce, as they have a built in sauce.

Bang Bang Wings

To guarantee crisp wings coated with the right amount of the sauce,

Follow a few simple tips.

  • Adjust the cayenne or red pepper to taste but do not over power the sauce with heat.
  • Make sure that you work with your air fryer to get the wings really crisp. I cook these for 12 minutes on one side, turn and do it for 10 minutes on the other) Other wing recipes that are a good idea include these sweet and sour chicken wings and Turkish Chicken Wings.
  • Lastly make sure that the sauce is ready, and the wings are tossed in the sauce immediately.
