And what is absolutely great about this is that you can actually cook wholesome brown rice along with the rajma. This ensures a complete wholesome meal on your table in about 30 minutes. Now this recipe comes together in a super simple way with the help of my basic curry masala. Lately with all the home cooking that I have been doing, I have been making loads of this masala. Once this is available you, several Indian recipes are so easy and accessible.

Easiest Ever Instant Pot Rajma Beans

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 6 hours, 25 minutes

Yield: Serves 4 to 6

Easiest Ever Instant Pot Rajma Beans

A super easy push and dump take on classic Rajma or North Indian Red kidney beans.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 cup Rajma (Red Kidney Beans) soaked for 5 to 6 hours
  • 1 cup Basic Curry Masala
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • Chopped cilantro, red onions, and green chilies or jalapenos to finish

Instructions

  1. Place the red kidney beans, basic curry masala, sugar and 1 cup of water in the instant pot. Set for 7 minutes of high pressure cooking and allow a natural release. Note to accomplish this timing, it is essential to soak your beans.
  2. Remove the cover and stir well. The beans should be saucy so you may need to add or simmer the sauce a little to get the results.
  3. Check for the salt, stir in the fresh lime juice.
  4. Serve over rice, garnished with chopped cilantro, red onions and green chilies or jalapenos to finish.

Notes

The Prep time includes the time for soaking the beans.
